“Yorkshire Dales v Lake District” Beer Festival – Easter Weekend 2012.

A big thank-you to everyone who attended what proved to be a memorable and hugely successful event. Over the weekend we had 27 different Real Ales from across the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District and with 10  dedicated hand pumps guaranteed a wide selection at any one time.

Throughout the festival we encouraged people to vote for their ‘Beer of the Festival’ and we are pleased to announce the top 3 below:

1st – Windermere Pale 3.5% (Hawkshead)

2nd – Esthwaite Bitter 3.8% (Cumbrian Legendary)

3rd – Bluebird 3.6% (Coniston)

Following the success of this event we hope to be able to announce another festival in the Autumn……so we will keep you posted over the coming weeks.

We have now done over 800 different Real Ales here at The Old Cock since opening in September 2010! Our 8 hand pumps consist of a permanent Bitter (Theakstons Best Bitter) and a permanent Pale Ale (Ilkley Mary Jane) with the other 6 pumps constantly rotating .

A full list of all the different ales we have served can be found in the ‘Beer History’ section of the website, and with us serving around 25 guest ales a week the list is only going to get bigger!

Here at The Old Cock we treat our cider as seriously as we treat our beer. We have 2 constantly rotating guest Real/Farmhouse Ciders all kept at cellar temperature and dispensed on draught pumps. Since opening in September 2010 we’ve had over 60 different Real/Farmhouse Ciders, from Janets Jungle Juice to Fiery Fox. Perrys, including Olivers to Broadoak Premium and Fruit Ciders like Strawberry and Passionfruit.

So next time your in why not try something a bit different. Please ask the staff for more information, or if your still not sure just ask for a taster!

At The Old Cock we have over 20 different Malt Whiskys to choose from. We have a wide range of Classic Malts which offer a fascinating gateway to the world of Scottish Malt Whisky. Our connoisseur malts are rarley to be found in any public house, these malts are for discerning whisky drinkers, for those who like their malts with immaculate character. We also have a selection of international malts from places like America and India.
